I bought one of these at Guitar Center on sale for $149.00 and just gutted and stripped it down to nothing, throwing away everything but the body and the neck (I saved the original neck and tuners for another possible project guitar in the future). Anyway…
First, I bolted a 2005 JV Fender Strat maple neck with vintage Kluson tuners to the gutted body using the Starcaster neckplate and bolts. Then, I replaced the bridge with a Fender Custom Shop ’57 reissue tremolo bridge and tremblock. After that was done, I installed three 500K CTS pots (Vol. Tone 1 and Tone 2) in place of the junk I threw out, and then converted it from a three single coil pickup design to dual humbuckers! I bought a black aftermarket 3-ply HSH pickguard and put in all DiMarzio pickups: Super Distortion in the bridge, a PAF in the neck and a DiMarzio DP119 Class of ’55 single coil in the middle. Best thing about it: hardly any routing was necessary! The body comes from the factory ALREADY routed for a bridge humbucker!!!
Now I have my own custom designed Strat–setup the way I want it, with the bridge and pickups I want, the neck I want, and in the end it cost me LESS THAN HALF of what I would have paid for a new U.S. made Stratocaster–and I have EXACTLY the guitar I want! In fact, if it hadn’t been for the expense of the Strat neck I wanted, This guitar wouldn’t have cost me $350
That’s what you do with this guitar! You build your dream instrument, man! I did.

Great starter kit for a beginner or amateur. It’s a well made cheap copy. Good to practice a lot on.

Unfortunately, we had to return the guitar with a defect issue.
The really good news is that the return was easy, without challenge and a full refund was issued.
Very satisfied.

Bought it for my friends kid – they love it. Not bad at all for the price.

I found this package to be very cheaply built. The volume control on the guitar goes from no sound at 0 setting to full at 1 setting. The amp is not that bad for the price but would not spend the money on a package like this again.
