I thought it would be cool to share a bit of what I've been putting together on the guitar lately... My guitar teacher lingo is terrible, so I'm sorry if you know the word I go for before I do... ("position" up and down the neck is what I was searching for)... I've been listening to a lot more of the earlier blues players lately and I'm digging a more "stately" approach to soloing.

he should create an exclusively youtube channel “For The Playaz”…Keep rockin’ John
he shreds
@clim3 yeah it’s probably required as somewhat of a “core” class i suppose. i would lovee to go to berklee.
I’m sure they have standards to get in though. And I heard he took lessons.
@clim3 he was at berklee for about 6 months and i think he really only took songwriting classes.
JM should do more of this
i’m assuming he knows theory because he was in berklee college of music.
i love that sound
I see Mayer in Dallas March 9th can’t wait!
Best Licks on guitar!!
Blues EVER!
I see you on rock in rio 2010!
Bye!
@MrRangel1983 oh dear =O lmao
He goes to D Pentatonic. Since when playing a typical blues chord progression is I-IV-V. The IV Chord of A Minor Pentatonic is D you can go to D Minor Pentatonic and play there for a little bit until the progression moves back to the I or goes to the V. There’s some notes that you can’t hit when moving to the IV pentatonic because they sound odd.
Dude your cool
he kinda knows cuz he went to berkle a year or soband he hasbeen putting togheter as much as he can. I mean playing with pino and steve and he also jammed with john scofield that dude could have tought him a lot.
Thats gangster shit right there. John Mayer is so gangster that when I listen to his music I do drive-by shootings…..on little kids.
@DocSixString He did go to Berklee Music college for a semester I think. I’m pretty sure he knows his music theory.
Thanks – JM you are a great great player, I love it! I have one tip for you -> “the best kept secret in the world of AMP’s is the Dutch Mr Van Weelden – check out his Twinkleland amp when you are in the netherlands” – you will not regret it
